This lecture provides an overview of the endocrine system with a particular focus on the thyroid gland, its anatomy, physiology, and hormonal functions. It explains the role of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) in metabolism, growth, development, and homeostasis, as well as their importance throughout the life span. The lecture also introduces common thyroid disorders, diagnostic tests, and available treatment options. Through medical terminology, comprehension activities, and applied exercises, you will develop both scientific understanding of thyroid function and you will be able to use medical English accurately in clinical and academic contexts.
