    The course aims at acquainting the students with a good grasp of English whereby the students can familiarize themselves with English as it is used in a scientific context, i.e Biochemistry here. Emphasis is given to reading comprehension of technical texts, focus on terminology and appropriate language in use. Also, the course will focus on students’ productivity, mainly in terms of: writing paragraphs and handling scientific debates.

        Creating Effective Objectives: Part 1



        • To introduce students to academic writing for research papers.
        • To familiarize students with Biochemistry terminology and jargon.
        • To get students to produce written pieces where they discuss Biochemistry topics in English.
        • To teach students the importance of initiating debates professionally related to their disciplines.

             Cohesive devices are the connectors/linking words that we use to link sentences together. They have different functions and using them add more coherence to academic writing.
