Students' Motivation to Conduct a Masters Research

Anecdotes collected from former Masters graduated students about their motivation pursuing the degree and developing skills to conduct research. 

S1: I would undertake research for many reasons such as solving problems related to different topics such as economy and health. To discover the unknown in the form of asking questions and trying to find relevant answers and solutions. I chose to study Masters mainly for personal reasons since English is my favourite language.

S2: Research purifies human life and improves its quality, it’s a search for knowledge and improvement. Changing small things makes a difference.

S3: First, I do research for the sake of a diploma. Second, doing research allowed you to discover the truth, to change and to give your opinion about a problem, and to master speaking in English, that is speaking without being afraid (during the viva) it’s a new experience.

S4: Research helps in understanding issues, developing a love of reading, and analysing, aids with employment prospects, helps us know extra information, and keeps us updated with recent information.

S5: to bring new ideas and solutions that update and innovate the situation in ELT in Algeria and shed light on teachers because they play a vital role in providing effective learning.
