Techniques for Personal Research

Exploratory research begins with qualitative data, which raise issues to be investigated in a larger quantitative survey. The qualitative data may suggest areas that can be searched in subsequent quantitative data (Cohen, 2018). Exploratory research can also be used when researchers test the effect of independent variables on the results.
