General Course Objectives

Course Description:
This course is intended for first-year students in the common core of Economic, Commercial, and Financial Sciences, particularly L1-Fila students. It focuses on analytical and algebraic tools and is structured into five chapters, covering the entire official syllabus of the Mathematics 2 module.
The first two chapters introduce partial derivatives of multivariable
functions and various methods for solving differential equations. The course
also covers matrix calculus and its application in solving systems of linear
equations with multiple unknowns.
Moreover each chapter includes fully worked-out examples to illustrate the
different concepts presented, followed by a set of proposed exercises.
By mastering these concepts, students will be able to apply them to
problem-solving in operational research, data analysis, and other related
fields.
Objectives:
The objective of this course is to:
- Build students' knowledge and skills in analysis and linear algebra.
- Help students understand and use differential equations and partial derivatives in microeconomics.
- Introduce matrices and teach basic matrix operations.
- Apply matrix concepts to solve linear systems, which are useful in decision theory.
