The English course presented here provides an introduction to legal terminology (lexicon) and the understanding of legal sources directly related to the modules taught in the second year of the Master's program in Judicial Law, specifically including subjects such as Criminology and Penology.
The course methodically establishes a direct connection between specialized legal terms and knowledge drawn from various fields pertinent to legal practice. Furthermore, this Legal English course aims to deepen the students' existing English language skills by applying them to specific, complex situations relevant to legal life and practice.
Course Content
This course is divided into three chapters, each containing a lesson focusing on a subject from the programe of the Second Year of Judicial Law Master's
First chapter : The probative force of traditional and electronic written evidence
second chapter: criminology and penology. -
At the end of the lesson, the student should
* understand the most important concepts related to the classical and electronic evidence
*The student must understand the basic concepts of crime and penology
*The student must be able to distinguish between the various theories and schools of thought related to criminology and punishment in english.
The student must be able to master the most important English terms related to the field of crime and penology.

The lesson covers general concepts regarding the probative value of traditional or electronic written evidence in litigation.

Criminology and penology constitute one of the principal branches of criminal sciences. Their core objective is to study and analyze the criminal phenomenon to gain a deep understanding of its causes and motives. Subsequently, this knowledge is applied to develop effective strategies for crime control and to determine the optimal methods for treating and rehabilitating offenders.

For law students, learning about penology is an important part of preparing for careers in criminal law, the judicial system, correctional administration, policy analysis, and criminal justice reform.

Criminal Justice is the system of practices and institutions of governments directed at upholding social control, deterring and mitigating crime, and sanctioning those who violate laws with criminal penalties and rehabilitation efforts
